Melvin Roman, President/CEOAs founder and leader of the company, Melvin actively oversees the daily operations of each and every aspect of MDR’s client activity and business matters. A former player himself in the San Francisco Giants organization, Melvin entered the agent business shortly after his retirement from baseball in 1996. He has been a prominent baseball agent for over a decade. Melvin is the lead contract negotiator for MDR and has successfully negotiated hefty, industry-respected free agent contracts and arbitration salaries for players such as Yadier Molina, Yorvit Torrealba, and Pedro Feliciano. His hands-on approach, ability to relate to his clients, and vast industry knowledge are the pulse of MDR Sports Management. Melvin attended both Hill Junior College in Hillsboro, Texas and Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma.
Miguel Villaran, Baseball Agent
Miguel’s presence at MDR represents an unparalleled combination of experience as a player, scout, and agent. He played professional baseball with the Los Angeles Dodgers for nine years and spent six years working as an area scout. Miguel’s nearly 20 years as an agent qualify him as an expert in client maintenance, recruiting, and all facets of a baseball players' business on and off the field.
Ramon Martinez, Baseball AgentRamon joins MDR after spending 10 years in the Major Leagues as an infielder for the Giants, Cubs, Tigers, Phillies, Dodgers, and Mets. He attended Vernon Junior College in Vernon, Texas. After such a long big league career, Ramon brings a wealth of knowledge and personal experience to MDR. He works closely with the clients for contract matters, equipment deals, and other client maintenance issues.
Joel Zaragoza, Baseball AgentJoel comes to MDR after having played professional and college baseball. He signed with the New York Mets in 1999 and spent four years in the organization. He attended Northwest Shoals Community College in Muscle Shoals, Alabama and Bethune Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida. After retirement due to injury, Joel joined the MDR team where he is responsible for recruiting, draft work, and client maintenance.
Erico Rosario, Manager of Dominican Republic OperationsErico has been heavily involved in Dominican Republic baseball for many years. He was an amateur player in the Dominican and recently served as Administrator of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball complex in the Dominican Republic from 2007 – 2009. He attended the Technological University of Santiago (UTESA) where he studied marketing. Erico is responsible for client maintenance and recruiting for MDR’s Dominican Republic operation.
Nelson Padro, Baseball AgentThe addition of Nelson to the MDR team is the product of his lifelong commitment to the baseball community. He has over 15 years of experience with the St. Louis Cardinals organization as an equipment manager, and he is connected to the baseball community in many Latin American countries. Nelson attended Universidad Central de Bayamon, Hill College, and San Jose City College while playing baseball. Recruiting and client maintenance are Nelson’s main areas of focus for MDR.
Mackenzie Goldstein Garner, Client Services CoordinatorMackenzie has nine years of experience in the sports management industry and has served as Client Services Coordinator for MDR Sports for five years. She provides clients with support for all daily needs while also facilitating equipment and marketing deals. Additionally, she serves as Administrative Supervisor for MDR. Mackenzie is a graduate of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Osvel Cruz, Office ManagerOsvel has served as Office Manager of MDR’s main office in Puerto Rico for three years. She is responsible for a variety of administrative duties with her main focus being on accounting and bookkeeping. She is also currently working on her BA in Environmental Engineering at the Polytechnic University in Puerto Rico.
